The official after party of New Zealand’s biggest homegrown music festival. Lasers, confetti and a room at full tilt, shot from the only angle that matters: on stage, behind the artist, looking out.
The assignment
When Homegrown ends, the real room starts. After party coverage is the hardest ticket in event photography: light that rewrites itself every second, lasers that blow out a sensor if you let them, and moments that will not repeat themselves for the camera.
The hunt
Arms up on the drop with green lasers cutting the frame. Confetti in the beam. The room in silhouette against the wall. And the quiet one: the artist backstage in a corridor with a drink, alone, minutes from all of it. Shot in energy mode on available light, because flash kills the room it is trying to record.
