Jolene Bar
Auckland’s only country music bar needed a home on the internet as loud, warm and unapologetic as the room itself.
The brief
Jolene opened as a pop up for a few months, just for fun. Auckland kept showing up, so she found a permanent home on Ponsonby Road. The site had to carry that story: a bar that is a personality first and a venue second. She walks in like she owns the room is the whole brand, and the site had to walk in the same way.
It also had to do real hospitality work: weekly events, four food and drink rituals, private event enquiries, table bookings and a founding membership drive, all without flattening the energy into a template.
The build
A single scrolling experience in dark Americana: neon against timber, western iconography, marquee type rolling the menu like a highway sign. What’s on this week sits high with live gig listings. The weekly rituals, Tenders and Tequila Tuesdays through Hot Dog and Coffee Sundays, run as a card rail with one price and one rule each.
The enquiry flow is a three step form that routes table bookings, private events, Cowboy Club interest and general questions into different conversations. The Cowboy Club membership drive carries three founding tiers with lifetime pricing hooks built into the copy.
The details
R18 messaging is threaded through every ritual card rather than parked in a footer. Contact is SMS first because that is how the audience actually talks. And the founder quote sits in the story section like a toast, not a testimonial.
